How do I connect with the fixed stars myself?

Go back to the Index
The easiest way to connect with the stars is by stargazing.

Simply go out at night and witness. That is a ritual unto itself.

As you watch them, observe their color and twinkling. Notice if there’s a certain one that catches your eye. Focus on that one and see if it conjures any feelings, sensations, thoughts or images. You’re doing magic.

You can always invest in a free astronomy app as well if you want help identifying the stars and constellations.

The next step is to perform a ritual with the stars when the Moon favorably aspects the zodiacal degree of the fixed star with which you are trying to work.

I have both a whole newsletter and lecture devoted to explaining my ritual techniques for drawing the stars down.

But know that there are basically no rules or established guidelines. Outside of talismanic prescriptions, we have no extant sources for how to do magic with the stars so the field is open. I provide basic guidelines in the resource above but know that the stars want you to trust yourself. Do you feel compelled to sing in the dark when you work with Vega? Does Alkaid want you to make a salt ring in the forest? Follow those impulses: that is how the field of the fixed stars is expanded upon.

I say this with complete sincerity: I believe the stars want to talk to us. Though this resource serves as a jumping-off point for your own further study or rabbit holes, perhaps spending time with the myth of a star or reading other sources on it, it also beckons you to look for yourself. How is the love magic of Alpheratz different than the love magic of Sirius? Take the plunge and look for yourself.
